Meet Sasha & Joseph DiMare!  A brother and sister from the Village of North Palm Beach who are making good use of COVID-19 quarantine time by making masks for our first responders and health care professionals.  They have already made more than 200 and counting to distribute to our police, fire and those on the front lines.  If you would like to purchase one of their masks, they are now selling them online at The Mask Project.  Here’s a video of their work:  Mask Making Project

With only 13 months between them, they both attend Bak Middle School and are dedicated to being active in their community.  They do their best to help others in need.  They live with their parents and enjoy the comforts of a close-knit family.  Together, they love creativity and all expressions of it, spending a lot of time painting, sewing or redecorating their house.  They are also incredibly passionate about their community and everybody in it. They go to as many North Palm Beach events as possible and always support the Village.

What is your favorite subject at school?

Sasha:  “My favorite subject in school is speech and debate.  I am a congressional debater. ”

Joseph:  “Language Arts ”

What career do you want to have and why?

Sasha:  “I have several different career paths in mind- politics, business, law, technology, or engineering- just because I want to keep my options open. Politics seems interesting because it can aid in making a change in our world, and it represents the voices of the people. Business is always a steady job [it won’t go away because business is always constant in our society], and I like to lead. ”

Joseph:  “Personally, I either want to be an architect or a neuroscientist. Although these career choices are very much different, both of them pursue elements of my life that I love such as art and science. ”

What is your favorite restaurant and what do you like to order?

Sasha:  “I can’t choose! I like so many! But if I had to pick one- I think I would have to go with Thai Lotus. I normally order a Thai tea and pad-see-ew noodles with tofu. ”

Joseph:  “My favorite restaurant is the Melting Pot. I love their Alpine Swiss cheese fondue and their bananas foster dessert fondue. ”

How long have you lived in our community?

Sasha:  “I’ve lived in palm beach my entire life- born and raised. ”

Joseph:  “I’ve lived in North Palm Beach my entire life and hope to live here for the rest of it. ”

Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

Sasha:  “I don’t know if I could answer this- just because everyone is interesting in their own right. ”

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

Sasha:  “I really wouldn’t want to travel right now, given the circumstances, but in the future, I would love to go to either Sweden or Japan [two very different places :)] ”

Joseph:  “Zermatt, Switzerland. Because it’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen and I only got to see the city for two days. ”

What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

Sasha:  “My favorite movie is either forever my girl on Netflix or rise of skywalker. I love the big bang theory [even though it ended].”

Joseph:  “My favorite movie is Avatar whereas my favorite show is the Mandolorian.”

What advice would you give to people?

Sasha:  “My favorite quote; “You are afraid to die, and you’re afraid to live. What a way to exist.” – Neale Donald Walsch  It’s kind of snarky, but it brings up a good point; you need to live your life.”

Joseph:  “I would tell people that the future is not a place to be because the present is here and you should live your life no matter what the future brings.”

What is something on your bucket list?

Sasha:  “Dance on the beach in the rain.”

Joseph:  “To go skydiving.”

What is your favorite music or band that you like to listen to?

Sasha:  “I like pop-rock. Niall Horan’s Heartbreak Weather album is good, love One Direction.”

Joseph:  “My favorite artists are Alec Benjamin, Billie Eilish, and George Ezra.”

What is your favorite place to visit in The Palm Beaches?

Sasha:  “Honestly, I have absolutely no clue.”

Joseph:  “Frenchman’s Forest Park.”

What is your favorite hobby?

Sasha:  “Listening to music, sewing, and debate.”

Joseph:  “Drawing and sculpting.”

What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

Sasha:  “I love how close-knit our community is, and how we have events like the heritage festival that bring us closer together.”

Joseph:  “Everybody is incredibly close. I believe we are a very tight community.”

Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Sasha:  “Going to my dream college up in the northeast, hopefully getting a masters degree, and working hard. ”

Joseph:  “Hopefully, I’ll be at Oxford College in London UK. ”

(Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

Sasha:  “I’m a very open book… I don’t think there’s anything people don’t really know. ”

What is the most beautiful place you have ever been to?

Sasha:  “There was this one place in Peru that was amazing- I think I forgot the name, it may have been Cuzco- but it was in the city, and the little buildings put together with the winding roads and the beautiful tapestries took my breath away.”

Joseph:  “Zermatt, Switzerland.”

Favorite month? holiday? and the best single day on the calendar?

Sasha:  “March or November [because its cold], love Fourth of July, and the best day is the first day of summer when we get out of school.”

Joseph:  “My favorite month is November. My favorite holiday is Christmas and my favorite single day is January 10th.”

What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

Sasha:  “Chocolate- 100%”

Joseph:  “Any story that your grandparent tells you.”

Who inspires you to be better?

Sasha:  “I think I have a lot of support from my friends and family, who lift me up to be a better person. ”

Joseph:  “Grant Gustin.”

What is one or two of your favorite smells?

Sasha:  “Clean sheets and the smell after rain”

Joseph:  “Good question. I like warm linens and fresh apple cider. ”

Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

Sasha:  “Family, warmth & joy.”

Joseph:  “A home isn’t made of walls of bricks but of family and love, my humble abode, & roots.”
